Veneers in Carrollton, North Dallas, Plano and Farmers Branch, Texas.
Dr. Hampton, a cosmetic dentist in Carrollton, understands that a less-than-perfect smile can detract from all that you have to offer. Dr. Hampton wants others to notice you instead of a few crooked or discolored teeth. That is why Dr. Hampton offers patients in Plano, Farmers Branch and North Dallas porcelain veneers to help restore and rejuvenate their smiles.
Dental veneers are paper-thin, tooth-colored laminates that Dr. Hampton places over the front of teeth to improve their appearance. The North Dallas cosmetic dentist uses veneers made of porcelain because they are sturdy and reflect light like natural teeth do.
Dr. Hampton works in partnership with a dental laboratory to customize veneers to match your existing teeth, so others cannot tell that you have had any cosmetic dentistry done. Once the laboratory has crafted matching veneers for you, Dr. Hampton bonds them to your existing teeth to improve their size, shape, length or color. Patients are encouraged to receive tooth whitening treatments prior to their veneers or dental implants being created.

Porcelain veneers may not be the ideal solution for certain patients. They are only one of the many cosmetic dentistry options that Dr. Hampton offers to make your smile flawless. He will discuss all options with you during consultation and then create a treatment plan that is right for you.
Plan to visit our office about three times for complete veneers treatment. On the first visit, you will consult with Dr. Hampton to review your cosmetic dentistry options and decide on a treatment plan. Dr. Hampton may take X-rays and make impressions of your teeth as well.
If you decide to move forward with veneers treatment, you will return for a second office visit. During this visit, Dr. Hampton will prepare your tooth or teeth for veneers. To do this, Dr. Hampton will remove about a ½ millimeter of tooth enamel from the front of the treated teeth to make room for the veneers. He will then make an impression of your treated teeth.
He next sends the impressions and instructions to a dental lab, where a lab technician crafts your veneers. It takes about two weeks for the lab to make the veneers. While you wait for your veneers to be finished, Dr. Hampton may place temporary veneers over prepared teeth if needed.
On the third office visit, Dr. Hampton temporarily places the crafted veneers so that he can examine both their fit and color. He will trim veneers as necessary to ensure a proper fit. He also adjusts their color by choosing bonding material that is the same shade as your natural teeth.
The next step is for Dr. Hampton to prepare the treated teeth for the veneers. He does this by cleaning and polishing your teeth, as well as roughening their surface, so the veneers can properly bond to the etched surface. Dr. Hampton then applies special bonding cement to the veneers before placing them on your teeth.
Once the veneers are in place, Dr. Hampton applies a special light beam, activating chemicals in the cement that ensure quick and long-lasting bonding.
Finally, the cosmetic dentist removes any excess cement, evaluates your bite and adds any necessary finishing touches. Dr. Hampton may recommend a follow-up visit to monitor your tooth and gum health with the new veneers in place.
Porcelain veneers can last five to 10 years before they need to be replaced. To care for your veneers, you should adhere to good oral hygiene practices: brush twice a day, floss daily, rinse with fluoride mouthwash and keep all your regular dental exam and cleaning appointments with The Hampton's Family & Cosmetic Dentistry.
Porcelain veneers are designed to resist stains. However, avoiding foods, drinks and other substances that can stain teeth, such as coffee, tea, red wine and cigarettes, will help keep your veneers look their best.
